We are deeply saddened to have heard of the death of our brother, Senior Deacon Guy J. Spiri, Class of 1983, who passed to the Lord on Friday, July 6, 2018. The funeral arrangements are as follow:

+ Lord God, you sent your Son Jesus into the world to preach the Good News of salvation and to pour out his Spirit of grace upon your Church. Look with kindness on your son and servant, Deacon Guy. As a deacon in your church, he was strengthened by the gift of the Spirit to preach the Good News, to minister in your assembly, and to do the works of charity. Give him now the reward promised to those who show their love of you by service to their neighbor. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

FRAMINGHAM - Deacon Guy John Spiri, age 87,a longtime resident of Framingham, died peacefully at his home, Friday, July 6, 2018 surrounded by his family.

Born in Herkimer, NY, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Francesca (Fedele) Spiridigliozzi. He was the devoted husband of 51 years to the late Barbara Anne (Kenna) Spiri who died in 2007.

Guy joined the U.S. Air Force after graduating from high school and served as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. Following his military services, he attended Clarkson College, receiving his Electrical Engineering Degree in 1959. He began his engineering career at American Optical, and later joined Raytheon Company where he spent 35 years as a Quality Control Manager overseeing Navy and FAA programs.

Guy answered a greater calling and pursued a diaconal vocation. With the support of his wife, he completed studies in the Catholic Diaconate Formation Program and was ordained as a Deacon in 1983. He was very active in the ministry and was a faithful servant to the community. He served as a Deacon at St. Anselm’s Parish in Sudbury and St. Stephen Parish in Framingham.

Later in life, he and his wife Barbara enjoyedtraveling and often spoke fondly of their international trips to places that included Italy, Greece, Israel, Egypt and Ireland.

Guy is survived by his children, Elizabeth Spiri of Framingham, Kelly Spiri and his wife Dawn of Milford, Barbara Spiri of Framingham and Mary West and her husband Jeff of Northbridge. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Ginamarie Spiridigliozzi and her partner Todd Lunter of Bellingham and Cameron Spiri of Long Beach, CA. He was the brother of Angela Small of Herkimer, NY and the uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend hisfuneral Mass on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 10:30 AM in St. Anselm’s Church, 100 Landham Rd. Sudbury. Burial will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery,Framingham.

Visiting Hours will be held Monday, July 9, 2019 from 4-7PM at Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., (corner of Union Ave.) Framingham.
